Disaster Management & Climate Change Affairs

Disaster management and climate change affairs are critical areas of focus for PTCRO due to their significant impact on vulnerable communities and the environment. Here are some key aspects that PTCRO is involved in these areas:

  • Risk Assessment and Preparedness: PTCRO conducts risk assessments to identify communities and regions most vulnerable to natural disasters and climate change impacts.
  • Emergency Response and Relief: PTCRO plays a crucial role in providing immediate assistance during and after disasters, including distributing food, water, shelter, and medical aid to affected populations. We also coordinate search and rescue efforts and support the evacuation of people from disaster-stricken areas.
  • Rehabilitation and Reconstruction: After a disaster, PTCRO engages in long-term rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts to help affected communities rebuild infrastructure, restore livelihoods, and recover from the social and economic impacts of the disaster.
  • Community Empowerment, Capacity Building and Training: PTCRO invests in building the capacity of local communities, government agencies, and partner organizations to enhance their knowledge, skills, and resources for disaster management and climate change adaptation. We provide training and education on disaster preparedness, risk assessment methodologies, early warning systems, emergency response protocols, sustainable agriculture, water management, and sustainable development practices.
  • Advocacy and Policy Influence: PTCRO advocates for policies and practices that promote disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and environmental sustainability at local and national levels. We raise awareness about the linkages between climate change and disasters and push for measures to address the root causes of vulnerability.
  • Cross-Sectoral Collaboration: PTCRO collaborates with government, UN agencies, academic institutions, and local communities to implement integrated approaches to disaster management and climate change adaptation. We recognize the interconnected nature of these challenges and the need for collaborative action to address them effectively.

PTCRO provides assistance to target populations affected by disaster and forced displacement through the distribution of cash and kits distribution, food and non-food items, shelter and water kits, for the reason to improve food security, decrease internal displacement, and child labor, create job opportunities, promote hygiene, protect vulnerable communities, and foster sustainable development in the face of environmental challenges.
