Health and Nutrition

PTCRO is playing its role in improving the health and nutrition situation in Afghanistan. Cross-cutting for health and nutrition sectors is advocacy and awareness about health and nutrition.

Vaccination and immunization, family planning, control and prevention of epidemic and infectious diseases, disease surveillance program, infant, child, and mother nutrition, gender mainstreaming in health, and capacity development of stakeholders are the main areas of intervention for PTCRO.

PTCRO Focuses on:

  • Marginalized Afghans across all age groups, IDPs, and returnees, especially those living in rural areas who are affected by conflict (women, children, and men) have easy and efficient access to health services, medicine, and nutrition.
  • Rural areas and conflict-affected areas of Afghanistan, especially vulnerable groups like women and children have basic but effective and long-lasting health facilities and infrastructures.
  • Community, hospitals and clinics in villages and cities, youth, disabled, doctors, and nurses have easy access to all means of health services.
  • Launching family planning educational programs for teenagers and young people to have a healthy family.
  • Prevention and treatment of people of concern particularly women and children through the provision of primary and secondary health and nutrition services.
  • Providing awareness programs for young people to prevent drug addiction and its unfortunate consequences.
