Women, Children and Protection

Afghan girls face early marriage, honor killings, domestic abuse, and sexual violence. Afghan boys suffer many of the same risks and sexual exploitation. Both girls and boys are exposed to hazardous labor practices, contact with landmines, and violence at home. Running from conflict and driven by poverty or climate change, large numbers of Afghan youths leave the country in search of a better life abroad.

PTCRO Focuses on:

  • Empowering girls and women with the skills and knowledge they need to stay safe and in control of their lives.
  • Providing training and education on situational awareness, conflict resolution, and self-defense.
  • Helping girls and women of all ages feel more confident and prepared to navigate potentially dangerous situations.
  • Conducting awareness generation programs and publicity campaigns on various laws relating to women and their rights through workshops, cultural events, seminars, trainings, advertisements in print and electronic media etc.
  • Offer person-centered care and survivor-centered GBV services. This means health workers provide services that center the priorities and preferences of the client.
  • Offer coaching, mentorship, and job aids to health workers at all levels of the health system to ensure survivor-centered care across sexual and reproductive health and rights services.
