Women Gabion Weaving Project Funded by UNOPS in Takhar Province

In 2004, with support from UNOPS, PTCRO implemented a Gabion Weaving project for 40 families in Takhar province. As part of this initiative, 40 women received hands-on vocational training in gabion weaving. The project helped participants acquire practical skills that enabled them to generate sustainable incomes and establish long-term livelihoods.

As a result, these women gained financial independence and were able to contribute to the economic wellbeing of their families. The initiative significantly enhanced the standard of living for beneficiary households by providing a stable income source.

Moreover, the project laid the foundation for small-scale gabion-related businesses, empowering women to become entrepreneurs. This not only improved their individual circumstances but also had a positive ripple effect on their wider communities.
